TV Azteca, one of the largest producers of Spanish language television programming in the world, completed a graphics upgrade with Vizrt graphic systems to improve its programming's on-air look.
I flew to Mexico to help TV Azteca with the graphic package, and then later to Munich to continue working on the project.
The upgrades to TV Azteca's programming included the latest versions of Viz Artist real-time 3D animation software, Viz Content Pilot content management and control software, Viz Virtual Studio software for the creation of virtual studio graphics, Viz Arena system for the coverage of live sports events, and Viz Engine high-performance renderer.
Based in Mexico City, TV Azteca encompasses a wide variety of Spanish-language programming, including three networks in Mexico, Azteca America in the U.S., and Azteca International, which broadcasts in Central America, South America, and Spain. The network covered the 2006 Germany World Cup in high definition, with 33 out of the 62 matches airing on Channel 7.
The network also broadcasted the three matches that the Mexican team played in the first round in high definition, and if the national team advanced, the other matches it played.
Well-known football personalities such as César Luis Menotti, Jorge Valdano, Bernd Schuster, and Javier Aguirre joined the channel's commentator staff for the World Cup coverage.
